Dr. Jeffrey Ansloos


Dr. Jeffrey Ansloos, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Indigenous Health and Social Policy and is the Tier II Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Studies of Health, Suicide, and Environmental Justice at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. He is the founding director of the Critical Health and Social Action Lab, a Canada Foundation for Innovation-funded research center that supports action research for health justice. Ansloos is a psychologist and serves as a member of the board of directors for the Canadian Association of Suicide Prevention. He chairs the OISE Dean’s Advisory Council on Indigenous Education. He is Cree and English, belonging to the Fisher River Cree Nation (Ochekwi-Sipi; Treaty 5). Dr. Jeffrey Ansloos is a Registered Psychologist, Canada Research Chair in Critical Studies in Indigenous Health and Social Action on Suicide, and Assistant Professor of Indigenous Health and Social Policy in the Department of Applied Psychology and Human Development at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. Dr. Ansloos is the current Faculty Chair of the Indigenous Education Network. Dr. Ansloos is Nehiyaw (Cree) and English and is a member of Fisher River Cree Nation (Ochekwi-Sipi; Treaty 5). He was born and raised in the heart of Treaty 1 territory in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  – bio from 2021
